Once Upon A Time is a popular american drama which has took its own take of Disney/fairy tales. What interests me most about this TV series is own they've put their own twist on the tales that I have grown up with and has made them relate-able to the audience.
The costumes that are features in this program are stunning, The designer Monique McRae has made a beautiful job of her creations and has used different elements of embellishment to bring out the details of the garments.
Monique McRae has also worked on the costumes for X-Men 2002 and Sucker Punch
The intense amount of detail on the evil queens garments are amazing.
The use of ageing a distressing is also an element of costume which I am interested in looking into as i have currently worked with ageing and distressing in a previous module.
Here are my examples of ageing and distressing which I have done myself.
Image one shows a bullet wound created by knitting needles, spray pain and copper wire.
Image two shows a animal slash wound which i used PVA glue, pain and fake blood.
When ageing and distressing you have to consider a lot of things such as where they have been shot or stabbed, angling, the choice of weapon and even which location of which soil and mud can differ from colour.
Ageing ad distressing is a very enjoyable part of costuming and i would be interested into doing volunteering in this area.
