Cats

Growing up Cats was my first musical I ever owned on Video and had ever seen and you could say was a big influence one the costume career I pursuing.
I love how they've incorporated each type of cat with their own personality using costume. Although the costuming looks simple it has had great thought and planning put into it .
Cats is coming to the Royalty in Newcastle which I shall be going to see in July.

Cats has become the worlds best know musical since 1981, composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
John  Napier was the designer for cats and has also worked on the designs for Hook and The Making of 'Captain Eo'

The Dutchess

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cR_JW28OFSo

While researching into the costumes of the duchess I came across this very good interview from the designs and actors/actresses who wear the garments how they make them feel.

Once Upon A Time

Once Upon A Time is a popular american drama which has took its own take of Disney/fairy tales. What interests me most about this TV series is own they've put their own twist on the tales that I have grown up with and has made them relate-able to the audience.
The costumes that are features in this program are stunning, The designer Monique McRae has made a beautiful job of her creations and has used different elements of embellishment to bring out the details of the garments.

Monique McRae has also worked on the costumes for X-Men 2002 and Sucker Punch

The intense amount of detail on the evil queens garments are amazing.

The use of ageing a distressing is also an element of costume which I am interested in looking into as i have currently worked with ageing and distressing in a previous module.

Here are my examples of ageing and distressing which I have done myself.
Image one shows a bullet wound created by knitting needles, spray pain and copper wire.
Image two shows a animal slash wound which i used PVA glue, pain and fake blood.

When ageing and distressing you have to consider a lot of things such as where they have been shot or stabbed, angling, the choice of weapon and even which location of which soil and mud can differ from colour.
Ageing ad distressing is a very enjoyable part of costuming and i would be interested into doing volunteering in this area.

Belle

Can't wait to see the upcoming film 'Belle' set in the regency period.
Costume designer : Anushia Nieradzik , Anushia isn't known for many famous work however researching through IMDB shown that she had worked on the 1984-85 Doctor who.

Pam Hogg

My recent trip to London I went to see my favourite Artist Paloma Faith at The Roundhouse, Camden. Paloma is my idol and style icon and is a big influence in the career choice I am wanting to pursue. I'd love to dress the stars especially Paloma as her style is quirky and unique.
The designer Pam Hogg designed her beautiful black and white dress.

Pam Hogg has designed for the liked of Blondie, Siouxie Sioux, Kyle and even Rhianna.
Pam Studied at Glasgow's School of Art and furthered her education to the Royal College of Art and gained her degree.

Looking through Pam's collection it has a sense of fantasy and costume. Pam has become a great inspiration to me and can help me through out my degree.
